Cleansing is a holistic approach to better health, natural weight management, and increased energy and vitality. It is the first step to healthy and positive lifestyle changes and healing your body. It addresses all aspects of health, and is the process of removing build-ups and accumulated stress and toxins from your body. It also eliminates elements from your body that it was not designed to have, especially heavy metals and toxic chemicals. The process of cleansing benefits your entire system — blood, tissues, everything — and hydrates your body, which promotes healing and increases energy. Toxins can accumulate in many ways. The foods we eat, the environment in which we live and daily emotional stresses, all contribute to stored toxins in our system. Cleansing is a widely used treatment and concept in holistic and alternative medicine. It can be a tool to help relieve symptoms and a preventative defense to increase your overall health, vitality and resistance to disease.
Your body is naturally designed to cleanse itself and eliminates toxins through your organs. It collects and removes toxins from your cells, breaks them down in the liver, and then eliminates them from your body through the colon, lymph, skin, lungs, nose, ears and eyes. Your body does this naturally every day. Every time you cough, sneeze, exhale, sweat, urinate, defecate, have a fever or develop skin problems – these are all signs that your body is trying to eliminate toxins.
Why Do We Need to Cleanse?
We live in a very toxic world and we can’t escape the reality of pollution all over the world, on many levels and in different areas of life. We’re engulfed in toxins of all kinds, both external and internal. There are environmental toxins – chemicals pollutants in our air, water and food; radiation from cell phones, Wi-Fi and microwaves; pesticides and herbicides. There are toxins we ingest: caffeine, sugar, alcohol, fast foods, coffee, soft drinks, drugs, prescription and over-the-counter medications, food additives, chemicals, nicotine, and trans-fat. Our systems get clogged up from all the fast food, junk food, carbohydrates, processed and overcooked foods that offer little to no nutrients at all. The small intestine is unable to fully digest these foods, especially refined carbohydrates. The older indigestible carbohydrates begin to ferment; it creates toxemia, gas and stress throughout the entire digestive tract. In addition, the body cannot keep up with the all the other toxins we have in our lives. It’s forced to store some of these toxins because it’s overloaded by our unhealthy lifestyles and environment. When the body reaches its limit and is unable to keep up with all the built-up poisons, these poisons start to spill over into the blood, causing serious health problems. For most people, their cells never get a break from the poor quality foods they ingest and from over-eating. Before the cells eliminate the residue from one meal, we eat another meal, and more toxins are dumped into our cells. The cell becomes what it cannot eliminate. It is a fact – we are what we eat!
Even children are exposed to lots of fast food and junk food. We start very early by feeding infants processed baby food. Then, more processed foods and junk foods are added little by little, until eventually they are regularly eating hamburgers and french fries, and drinking soda. They grow up with a very unhealthy diet of refined food and sugary snacks. Combined with habits of overeating and late night meals, it all contributes to serious health issues.
Most illness starts in the colon. If you are constipated and don’t eliminate daily, you are in trouble. This is a sign that your colon is packed with years of built-up waste. Any food or substances that your body can’t deal with remain undigested in your colon and will continue to build up. Imagine leaving some food out for a couple of weeks. How would it look and smell? The build-ups in your body are even worse. Most people have years of build-up in their systems. Imagine how that looks and smells. Once you accumulate enough of these toxic build-ups, it becomes problematic to your health and your energy level. You will experience cellular dysfunction and many health challenges that can lead to chronic diseases. Toxins can contribute to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, respiratory illness, kidney disease, liver dysfunction, autoimmune disease, hormonal imbalances, obesity and cancer. Even acne problems and hemorrhoids are signals that the body’s waste is being forced out through the skin, since the colon is backed-up and is not being sufficiently emptied. The United States Centers for Disease Control estimates that more than 80% of all illnesses have environmental and lifestyle causes.
Symptoms of Toxicity
Cleansing and Weight Management
The average person carries 10-15 pounds of accumulated waste in the colon. With the cleansing program, you can release this extra weight within a couple of weeks, and you will feel healthy – not only because you’ve lost weight, but also because you’ve eliminated toxins and potential diseases that were affecting your whole system. Cleansing is a great way to help your body naturally eliminate extra pounds of waste. It’s also an important step towards developing and maintaining a healthy and balanced body. Your body needs this break from assaults to allow it to remove as many impurities from your system as possible. In addition to adding the good food, drinks and nutrients that your body needs, this cleansing process will boost your immune system and help your body cleanse itself, rebuild and rejuvenate. Fifty percent of the immune system is located in or around the digestive system, especially the large intestine. Cleansing is an important step to restore your immune system and protect your body against environmental toxins and illness.
Cleansing is the best gift you can give yourself and is the most important step to obtaining and maintaining good health. Until you cleanse your system and remove the toxins from your body, nutrients will not absorb properly. Digestion will be difficult and can lead to weight gain, constipation, gas problems, bloating, headaches, bad breath, skin problems, allergy symptoms, fatigue, anxiety, depression, irritability, frequent infections, insomnia and low energy. These are all indications that your system is overloaded with toxic build-ups.
The human body has never before been exposed to as much pollution as it is today. Every day, every hour, every moment we are bringing foreign toxic chemicals into our bodies. Our cells do not eliminate all these additional toxins. The body cannot keep up, and the noxious elements are being stored in our cells and tissues.
We are also under a lot more stress today than ever before. Most of us experience many stressful emotions on a daily basis, such as fear, anger, hatred or jealousy. There are wars, economic crises and plenty of negative news. Today, we are facing very tough and challenging problems in many different areas of our lives. People are losing their homes, their businesses, investments, retirement and their jobs. Millions of people are facing bankruptcy or foreclosure, and many companies are going out of business. Fear is in every home today, fear of unemployment, fear of losing the house, the car, the business, the income; it is all over the world. These emotions result in an excess of adrenalin production, which becomes poison to our body. In addition to the food waste and the stressful emotions, there are other toxic substances from modern living that we were not designed to handle. Without additional cleansing, toxins are built up faster than they are eliminated, resulting in continual weight gain, health problems and loss of energy. Cleansing can bring clarity and can help our bodies recover and restore.
The Benefits of Cleansing
Cleansing can also be helpful for anyone suffering from immune system problems, chronic diseases, fatigue syndrome, chemical sensitivity, fibromyalgia and many other conditions, including: obesity, heart disease, allergies, anxiety, mental illness, arthritis, asthma, digestive disorders, chronic infections, depression, diabetes, high cholesterol, headaches and high blood pressure. Cleansing is a great way to assist the transition from an unhealthy diet to a healthy one. Most people also notice improvement in their hair, skin texture and nail growth.

Statistics shows that Americans drink more soda than ever before. They account for more than 25 percent of all drinks consumed in the United States. More than 15 billion gallons were sold in 2000 — about one 12-ounce can per day for every man, woman and child.
But here’s some information that may keep you away from opening the can:
1. Extra pounds
Soda is a significant contributor to obesity. Drinking a single can a day of sugary drinks translates to more than a pound of weight gain every month. And diet soda is just as likely to cause weight gain as regular, or even more — it may sound counterintuitive, but people who drink diet soft drinks actually don’t lose weight. Artificial sweeteners induce a whole set of physiologic and hormonal responses that actually make you gain weight.
2. Liver damage
Soda damages your liver. Consumption of too many soft drinks puts you under increased risk for liver cirrhosis similar to the increased risk faced by chronic alcoholics.
3. Tooth decay
Soda dissolves tooth enamel. Soft drinks are responsible for doubling or tripling the incidence of tooth decay. Soda’s acidity is even worse for teeth than the solid sugar found in candy.
4. Kidney stones and chronic kidney disease
Colas of all kinds are well known for their high phosphoric acid content, a substance that changes the urine in a way that promotes kidney stone formation. Drinking one quart (less than three 12-ounce cans) of soda per week may increase your risk of developing kidney stones by 15 percent.
5. Diabetes
Anything that promotes weight gain increases the risk of diabetes. Drinking soda also stresses your body’s ability to process sugar. Some scientists now suspect that this may explain why the number of Americans with type 2 diabetes has tripled from 6.6 million in 1980 to 20.8 million today.
6. Heartburn & acid reflux
Heavy consumption of soda is a strong predictor of heartburn. Many carbonated beverages are very acidic. They also deliver a lot of air in the form of carbon dioxide, which can cause distension of your stomach. And that distension appears to be associated with more reflux.
7. Soft drinks = Soft Bones = Osteoporosis
Soft drinks containing phosphoric acid are definitely linked to osteoporosis (a weakening of your skeletal structure) because they lead to lower calcium levels and higher phosphate levels in your blood. When phosphate levels are high and calcium levels are low, calcium is pulled out of your bones.
8. Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Experts have reasons to believe that overconsumption of soda leads to an increase in blood pressure. It doesn’t matter if the soda is regular or diet.
9. Heart disease
Heavy soda drinkers are more likely to develop risk factors for heart disease. Research shows that drinking more than one soft drink a day is associated with an increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome — a group of symptoms such as central obesity, elevated blood pressure, elevated fasting blood sugar, elevated fasting triglycerides, and low levels of HDL or “good” cholesterol. Having three or more of the symptoms increases your risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
10. Impaired digestion (gastrointestinal distress)
Gastrointestinal distress includes increased stomach acid levels requiring acid inhibitors, and moderate to severe gastric inflammation with possible stomach lining erosion. Drinking sodas, especially on an empty stomach, can upset the fragile acid-alkaline balance of your stomach and other gastric lining, creating a continuous acid environment. This prolonged acid environment can lead to inflammation of your stomach and duodenal lining.
